Found this really cool kitchen island posted by one of my pinterest buddies. I like the multiple drawers and the indented pedestal that gives the floating effect but what I really appreciate is the simplistic size and shape.
Too often I see huge, elaborate island configurations crammed into a small kitchen. So ill fitting that the island actually looses some of it function....I have to wonder, what were the designers/owners thinking! I tell clients to consider that you must have a minimum of 36 inches clearance on all sides of your island so even a small 2 foot x 4 foot will require a 8x10 footprint.
